Transportation Planning Division
The Transportation Planning Division (TPD) oversees the management and funding of all Rural & Metropolitan Planning Organizations in North Carolina. TPD also coordinates with RPOs, MPOs, and Local Governments on grant programs and the development of various types of transportation plans. The Mid-East RPO lies within the Eastern Piedmont Region of TPD.

Division 1
Division 1 is responsible for all aspects of state-maintained highways, roadsides, and bridges in Bertie, Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Dare, Gates, Hertford, Hyde, Martin, Northampton, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Tyrrell, and Washington Counties. The Mid-East RPO works closely with Division 1 on projects in Martin County.

Division 2
Division 2 is responsible for all aspects of state-maintained highways, roadsides, and bridges in Beaufort, Carteret, Craven, Greene, Jones, Lenoir, Pamlico, and Pitt Counties. The Mid-East RPO works closely with Division 2 on projects in Beaufort & Pitt Counties.
